What you'll need before you start
The Driving Green Partner app is used to record and submit electric vehicle odometer readings on behalf of the Driving Green programme. Each submission captures the current mileage along with four supporting photos to verify the reading.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following to hand:
The vehicle's registration number
Access to the vehicle's dashboard to read the odometer in km
The Tax Disc and Insurance Disc displayed together in the windscreen
Ability to photograph the front and rear of the vehicle (registration plate must be visible)
Your Driving Green Partner app login credentials
⚠️ Important: Mileage must be entered in kilometres (km), not miles. If the vehicle's odometer displays miles, please convert to km before entering the figure. Incorrect units may cause the submission to be flagged.
Step-by-step: completing a submission
The app guides you through a 7-step process. Each step must be completed in order before you can proceed to the next.
Step 1 — Open the app and tap "Start vehicle odometer check" After logging in, you'll land on the home screen showing a Vehicle Odometer Check card. Tap the green Start vehicle odometer check button to begin.
Step 2 — Enter the vehicle registration number Type the vehicle's registration number exactly as it appears on the plates — for example 22-05-223333. Double-check this before proceeding, as it cannot be edited after submission.
Step 3 — Enter the current mileage in km Read the odometer from the vehicle's dashboard and enter the figure in the Mileage (km) field. Tap Continue when ready. The button will remain grey until both fields are filled. 💡 Tip: Place the Tax Disc on the dashboard near the odometer — you'll need both visible together in the next step.
Step 4 — Photograph the Tax & Insurance Discs Take a photo showing both the Tax Disc and Insurance Disc displayed together clearly in the windscreen. Tap Take a photo to use the camera, or Select from gallery if you've already taken the shot. The photo preview will appear on screen once added.
Step 5 — Photograph the dashboard mileage Place the Tax Disc on the dashboard next to where the mileage reading is shown, and take a photo capturing both the Tax Disc and the odometer reading in the same frame. This is the most important photo — ensure both are clearly legible.
Step 6 — Photograph the front of the vehicle Take a photo of the front of the vehicle with the registration plate clearly visible. Ensure the plate is in focus and the image is well-lit.
Step 7 — Photograph the back of the vehicle Take a photo of the rear of the vehicle with the back registration plate clearly visible. The plate must be legible in the final image.
Photo requirements
Each of the four photos serves a specific verification purpose. Poor-quality photos are the most common reason submissions need to be re-done.
Photo 1 — Tax & Insurance Discs Both discs must appear together in the windscreen. Ensure the text on each disc is readable.
Photo 2 — Dashboard Mileage Tax Disc placed next to the odometer display. Both must be clearly visible and legible in one shot.
Photo 3 — Front of Vehicle Full front view with registration plate in focus. Step back far enough to capture the whole front of the vehicle.
Photo 4 — Back of Vehicle Full rear view with rear registration plate clearly legible. Avoid glare from lights or sun.
📸 Photo tips for the best results:
Take photos in good natural light where possible — avoid shooting directly into bright sunlight
Hold the camera steady and ensure images are in focus before confirming
Dashboard screens can be tricky — turn off Auto-Brightness on your phone if the screen appears washed out
For the windscreen photo, avoid reflections by shooting at a slight angle
ou can retake any photo by tapping the preview area before tapping Continue
Reviewing and submitting
After completing all four photo steps, you'll be taken to the Submission Summary screen. This shows:
The vehicle registration number
The mileage entered (in km)
Thumbnail previews of all four photos
Review each item carefully before submitting. If anything looks incorrect, tap the back arrow to navigate back to the relevant step and make changes.
⚠️ Submissions cannot be edited once sent. Once you tap Submit, the data is sent to the Driving Green platform and cannot be changed within the app. If you realise a mistake after submitting, contact your Driving Green account manager as soon as possible.
When you're satisfied everything is correct, tap the green Submit button. You'll receive an on-screen confirmation once the submission has been successfully received.
Common questions
The Continue button is greyed out — what do I do?
The Continue button only activates once all required fields or photos on that screen have been provided. On the vehicle details screen, both the registration number and mileage must be filled in. On photo screens, a photo must be successfully added before you can proceed. If the button remains grey after adding everything, try tapping elsewhere on the screen to dismiss the keyboard, then check that the photo preview has appeared in the green-bordered box.
Can I select a photo from my camera roll instead of taking a new one?
Yes. On each photo step, tap Select from gallery to choose an existing photo from your iPhone's photo library. This is useful if you've already taken the required shots before opening the app. Make sure the photo meets the quality requirements above before selecting it.
I entered the wrong mileage — can I go back and fix it?
Yes, as long as you haven't submitted yet. Use the back arrow at the top left of any screen to return to a previous step. Your progress on other screens is saved, so you won't need to re-take photos you've already added. If you've already submitted, you cannot edit the record in-app — please contact your Driving Green account manager and provide the correct mileage and the vehicle's registration number.
The app is asking for camera permissions — is this normal?
Yes. The first time you attempt to take a photo, iOS will ask you to allow the Driving Green Partner app to access your camera and photo library. Tap Allow to continue. If you previously denied access, go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera, find the Driving Green Partner app, and switch it on.
Does the app work without an internet connection?
The app requires an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to submit a completed odometer check to the Driving Green platform. You may be able to navigate through the steps and add photos without a connection, but the final submission will fail without connectivity. We recommend ensuring you have a stable connection before tapping Submit.
I've forgotten my login credentials — how do I regain access?
Login credentials for the Driving Green Partner app are managed by your dealership's Driving Green account manager, not through the app itself. Please contact your account manager or your dealership's programme coordinator to reset your access. Do not share your credentials with other staff members — each technician should have their own login.
Which vehicles does this process apply to?
The Driving Green Partner app is used exclusively for electric vehicles (EVs) enrolled in the Driving Green programme. If you're unsure whether a specific vehicle requires an odometer check, check with your dealership's programme coordinator before proceeding.
