How it works

Three steps

  1. You plug in at home. Whatever time you get back. The car talks to Driving Green over the cloud - no extra hardware, no wiring changes.
  2. We wait for the cheap hours. Most nights that's between 1am and 5am. Prices drop, the wind picks up, and the grid has spare capacity.
  3. You wake up charged. At your target state of charge, at your target time. If plans change you can override in one tap.

Which cars are supported?

Tesla first - we're going live with Model 3, Y, S and X. Other brands (Hyundai, Kia, BMW, VW Group) follow as soon as we have stable APIs.

Do I need a smart wall charger?

No. We talk to the car directly. A smart charger improves things slightly but isn't required to capture the savings.

What if I need to leave early?

One tap to override. The schedule always defers to a manual instruction - we're optimising your car, not taking it away from you.

Will this slow charging?

No. We pick the cheapest hours and charge at full home speed. Most overnight sessions easily fit inside the cheap window.
